Just plug the Stem Player into your PC and visit (Opens in a new window) to manage the device. You don’t need to download any extra software. I’m not an audio enginner, but the way the Stem Player intelligently separated the stems in, say, the Super Smash Bros. You can even copy and paste a YouTube link to put that video’s audio directly into the Stem Player with shockingly good results. You can upload AAC, AIF, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, M4A, MP3, MP4, WAV, and WAVE files. Audio quality varies depending on the source files, but the Stem Player supports a variety of formats, including lossless ones. Once you tire of these tracks, though, you can also upload your own music. For starters, “Never Abandon Your Family” isn’t just a petty Kim Kardashian breakup song, but a solid collection of clear and easily identifiable stems that lend themselves well to remixing. I’m not going to write another review within this review picking apart the meandering mess that is Kanye’s modern approach to music, but at least this included album gives you a good jumping off point for using the Stem Player. West also says the forthcoming follow-up album, Donda 2, will be a Stem Player exclusive. The Donda Stem Player comes preloaded with West’s latest album, Donda, including some unreleased tracks. You can even combine stems from across different songs, a technique I still haven’t fully mastered. There's a lot you can do here, it just takes some practice. To start playing normal tracks again, you must press a button to exit out of the remix mode. Swiping horizontally changes the speed and direction. For example, to shorten a loop you need to swipe down vertically to reduce the number of lights representing the loop’s current length. When I accidentally turned the Sopranos theme song into an upbeat disco tune, I immediately saved that banger to my track library.Įxploring everything the Stem Player can do pushes its control scheme and light-based interface to the limit. The Stem Player keeps everything on tempo, so whatever rhythm you concoct will always sound at least listenable, but you also have room for experimentation. For instance, you can raise and lower the pitch make the song go backward or chop out and adjust the length of a loop if you want to make some true Ye-style sample beats. It’s reminiscent of the creepy biological machines from a David Cronenberg movie like eXistenZ or Videodrome.īeyond isolating stems, the Donda Stem Player lets you apply various fun audio effects. The website boasts about this anti-static “soft skin,” and while it’s nice not having to deal with any sharp edges, it just feels gross. The first thing you notice about the Donda Stem Player, from “Yeezy Tech x Kano,” is its unnerving physical presence. Like Nothing You've Ever Seen (or Touched) And according to Ye himself (Opens in a new window), the Donda Stem Player is also the only place to hear his next album, Donda 2. However, if you want to try your hand at making your own songs in his audio image, the bizarre yet creative $200 Donda Stem Player puts the power to remix his latest album Donda (as well as any other music files or YouTube clips) in your hands. In 2021, no one would blame you for no longer holding Kanye in such high esteem. Arguably one of the great musical geniuses of the 21st century, West’s initial signature sound revolved around chopping up old samples and remixing them in ways other artists just couldn’t touch. Many (many) years ago, Kanye West changed hip-hop forever. Donda's quality as an album is questionable. How to Set Up Two-Factor Authentication. ![]()
![]() In the case of the HP calculators, the dynamic stack wasn't merely an option, it was a central part of the new design. Just like HP, I'm adding capabilities to make the app more useful. The four-level stack is still there and works as always. ![]() If you don't like "zero" being distinct from "no data" or having to use CLST (three keystrokes) to clear the stack, then don't use it, I'm not forcing this on anyone. x=0 is not the same as an empty stack and you can't clear the stack with "0 enter enter enter" etc. if you look at such a program again after years. I like to juggle the stack myself in programs instead of using register but the limited stack in particular forces you to make it understandable e.g. In RPL a new structured language was developed and the stack was replaced by a list with stack-functionality for calculations. The programming "language" (Keystoke) resulted from it. In RPN calculation was the startpoint and the stack optimized for this kind of operation. In RPL it became consistent with a dynamic stack. Wouldn't a dynamic array be more consistent for this on a RPN Calculator?Īs I mentioned in an other thread, I don't see RPL as a successor to RPN but more as a fork. I think it was precisely this consideration that led to the development of RPL. the big stack offers an alternative for people who prefer that kind of coding style. You have no idea how often my HP48 almost flew out of the window because of "Error: To Few Arguments" which even appeared on the HP48 if you wanted to push it away with ]. It has been pretty reckless on the part of HP to ignore the habits of many RPN users in such a mean way. Have you found a method to deal with these ships? Are there any tools for compiling/decompiling the. Sometimes, I go hours without seeing it, other times it shows up in 3 back-to-back missions and I just ragequit. But this one ship is ruining all of the fun every time I encounter it. The game is great fun, especially to someone like me that still enjoys playing Freelancer on occasion. (assuming I haven't already failed it because my friendly ships have been vaporized)Įvery other ship in the game has strengths and weaknesses, counters and options. I'm to the point now that as soon as I see a Korian Schizo II, I leave and abandon the mission. I've experimented with a lot of different strategies/technologies to deal with these ships, and absolutely nothing works. (or at least resistant enough that a couple bursts don't disable them) And it takes concentrated fire of 7 mk 6 Mining Laser turrrets to take down 1 of these ships. Korian Schizo IIs appear to be resistant to EMP flak as well. (15k+38k+11k+3k=67k) 1 Korian Schizo II can do that much damage in 3 shots.Īnd that's not all. If you add up my hull + shield + shield regen + deflector, I can soak about 67000 damage in 2 seconds before taking damage to my ship. And keep in mind, that I mean insane here. They aren't firing any missiles, so Shieldbursters and Antimatter Probes aren't the cause of this insane spike of damage. There is no weapon in the game that even approaches that level of damage. Now, I know all about Viridian Lasers, but it would take 10+ simultaneous bursts from mk6 Viridian Lasers to drop my shields in under 2 seconds. On missions that require you to save friendly ships, just one of these fighters can destroy the friendly ships in seconds, before you even see it. ![]() This is insanely frustrating, especially when it is clearly not a fluke. On a mission rated as Low risk however, 1 Korian Schizo II mixed in with the other ships can destroy my shields and hull in 1 burst of fire (under 2 seconds).
